Why are Teddy Bears considered beneficial for children?
As an arctophile (teddy bear collector) myself, a Teddy Bear designer and a retailer of Bears I could probably find a 100 reasons why Teddy Bears are beneficial for children.
We have 4 children ourselves and 4 grandchildren at the moment and all of them love their cuddly toys. They are comforting companions in times of emotional needs. Most kids have a very special Teddy Bear or soft toy and they bring him everywhere they go. It gives them a sense of security, especially in new situation. That could be meeting new people, starting play school or seeing a doctor. It is always good to hold on to something or someone you love during times of insecurity, anxiety or stress.
The Comfort From A Teddy Bear
While the presence of a Teddy Bear can offer comfort and reassurance he can also give emotional support. We would claim not just to children but to adults as well. We see every week, in our Teddy Bear hospital, how precious old bears have become to our customers over the years of their life.
Children get emotional support by talking to a teddy bear, expressing their feelings, working through challenges and even developing emotional intelligence. Teddy bears inspire imaginative play and creative storytelling. Children often engage in imaginative scenarios with their teddy bears, which helps them develop their creativity, cognitive skills, and language abilities.
Like I said in the beginning we can list lots of reasons why Teddy Bears are considered beneficial for children. What about all the social skills children have to develop before they get into school. Psychologist are aware that communication, cooperation, empathy can all be learned through role play in early age. Teddy will be a great companion during that time.
We all know how important physical comfort is. Cuddling up with your Teddy Bear at bedtime or when you are ill is so comforting, relaxing and reassuring.
I think you might find lots of other reasons why a Teddy Bear is important to you or your children. For children it is a combination of having a good friend by their side, who can provide comfort in times of need and who always is at your beck and call.
