adopted teddy bearHi Anke,
Thank you very much for Freezy who arrived on December 23rd! We have introduced Freezy to Leo and they were delighted to see each other! Unfortunately none of the children were there as they had finished for the Christmas Holidays. We will however take photographs of Leo, the children and Freezy after January 10th when we come back to school.  Consider Freezy well in truly adopted!!! Thanks again! We just got a new message from CavanKids:Please find attached some photos of the children of Kavan Kids Montessori with Leo and Freezy! The Teddies are having a great time with us!CavanKids

My first bear is now past his mid 50’s and has worn well even though he was hugely loved. He has been re-stuffed and wears my brother’s baby clothes (they are now grown man).I first heard of Anke and her Bear Making Centre in Cavan a few years ago and I looked forward to going there and make my own teddy bear. I thoroughly enjoyed my day session there and this was my first of many bear making times with Anke. I have since attended each year our teddy bear making week in An Grianan. Made about 10 bears including a panda and polar bear.handmade teddy bears

My name is Ciaran Colbourne and I am 7 years old.  Once me and my dragon Draego planned to climb a tree, so we did it on Monday evening.  When we were on the way down I tripped.  When I fell off the branch, Draego just caught me and put me on the ground.  I was really terrified!!!!!  He saved my life!!!!Ciaran + Draego up a tree

Hi, my name is Sean and I am 5 years old.  My teddy’s name is Barney the Bull.  Barney and I sleep in the slatted cattle shed.   One day Mommy fed me and Barney at the feed barrier in the shed.  The next day Barney and I went for a walk in the field.  That night, we slept in my room in the house and when we woke up, we shared Frosties and Shreddies for breakfast.Sean Competition image

Hi, I am Jamie Colbourne, and I am with my teddy-monkey, Rusty in the photograph.  Rusty has been my pal for as long as I can remember.  Let’s go back to the time that we went to my uncle Ian’s farm…..

On the first morning that I was there, I woke up and felt something cuddly on my arm.  Phew, it was only Rusty.  Later on during the day, Rusty and I were playing in the yard and we found two sheep feeders. Rusty sat on one and I stuck my head through another.  Suddenly the feeders started to roll down the hill.  Rusty and I quickly jumped out.  The feeders rolled to the bottom of the hill, crashed into a barn and fell apart.  “Oooops”, me and Rusty said! I enjoyed making my own teddy bear. It was a great experience to do it myself and to take him home and say to my family “I made him myself!” He will be a keep sake for certain. He will have a special place in my home – many thanks to my teacher.
She was so helpful. I have decided to call him Arthur. My brother in law in Kent has so many teddies all along his stairs in the house. That’s why I called him Arthur after my brother in law.teddy bear making

Every year we visit Anke at Bear Essentials! All of the Kavan Kids Montessori children visit and get to do lots of interesting things. This year we noticed a sad bear on the kitchen work top. Anke explained that Leo the Bear had been sent to South Africa to someone who had returned him. Leo was then left in the rain on Ankes door step and Ankes dogs ripped open his parcel and dragged him around. Leo did not want to go back to South Africa nor stay at Ankes. Anke asked Kavan Kids Montessori would we adopt Leo! We were all delighted! Leo now sits on a shelf in the Montessori looking after all the children here. He has come on Teddy Bear Picnics and has had a new Graduation Gown made to attend our Graduation. He sat proudly on the stage with all the children. Leo is now a happy Bear and is very much loved…..
